The theory is that if you send out better content using superior spinning techniques and make it easy for anyone to re-publish a unique version of your article, that content will not only fetch more backlinks but will also continue to get published indefinitely into the future.

Most article submission services fall short in at least one critical area and don’t give you the search engine results that you hope for. 

Supposedly, Google has made it harder to rank well by discounting links found in duplicate content, for example, so a service like this has to be diligent to ensure that every step of the process is at its best.

What is Unique Article Wizard?

Unique Article Wizard is a service that provides a step-by-step wizard where you can create new content, rewrite that content and submit it to over 20,000 websites that need fresh, unique content. Each website that accepts and publishes your content must leave the resource box with the links that you created intact.

How Does Unique Article Wizard Work?

With Unique Article Wizard you can use a spinner on your own and paste the spun syntax in the article form but the real value of the service comes from when you spend the extra time and rewrite each paragraph by hand. This way each unique version of your article looks great without machine generated gibberish and looks like you actuality wrote each version, because, in reality you did personally write every word.

As you can see, this attention to detail will take you more time on the front end but in the long run your article will get picked up by many more sites and will continue to be republished out into the future indefinitely, effectively “dripping” hundreds or thousands of links back to your website over time.

In theory, if you write and submit a few articles a week you can generate tens of thousands of backlinks over the course of a year. This is a huge claim for any service, especially since each link should be counted by Google because it is found within unique content.

Some additional information about Unique Article Wizard that will help you decide whether or not this is for you is you can have an unlimited number of pen names so if you are promoting different sites in different niches you won’t cause readers to question how you can be an expert in so many different niches at the same time.

To me, the more important benefit of this is that the search engines will think that many different people are promoting and talking about your website. This carries infinitely more weight with the Big G than if you were talking about yourself on thousands of pages around the Web. Makes sense right? This benefit makes this feature a biggie, really differentiating UAW from all other products in its class.

In addition, you are allowed to spin your resource boxes so that you can easily alternate anchor text, the URLs that your links point to and the text surrounding your links to make things look extra natural to the search engines.

I also saw on one Internet marketing forum that people were concerned that their article would get “blasted” out to thousand of directories and they were curious to know if you could set a daily submission limit inside UAW or otherwise schedule the syndication of your article over time. The answer is that you can set a daily limit right at the end of the step-by-step wizard and you can go back later and change that limit quickly and easily.

Also, after going out to the article directories your content gets picked up by webmasters one at a time. If they like your article and want to republish they can easily do so.

Research Results for Unique Article Wizard

I have been using UAW for about a week now and I put only one article through the system to see how it went. My article was actually rejected three days after submitting because I put three links in the resource box, you’re only allowed two per article. So I resubmitted the article and it got accepted the next day.

• Here were the results of the first day of my article being submitted:
• I set a daily submission limit of 25
• My article was submitted to 24 different sites
• 17 out of the 24 were live right away
• Out of the live articles, 1 was on a PR3 domain, 2 were on a PR2 domain, 1 on a PR1, 11 on PR0 sites, and 2 were on domains with PR n/a
• So, on day one I received 17 backlinks found in “unique” content (you spend a good amount of time rewriting so it was not machine generated gibberish), better than I thought

UAW Personal Case Study Added October 2012

I am excited to announce that I’ve completed a study to finally answer the question, does Unique Article Wizard work? 

In short the answer is yes. 

If you consider moving a new website up to Number 2 in Google a success, then yes, Unique Article Wizard works.

Let’s break down my test…

The article has been submitted 7 times per day for just under two weeks for a total of 85 submissions. Not all of them have been indexed but I don’t expect all links to get found by Google. After all, it’s results we’re after, not links.

As you can see we were doing the Google dance for a while there, which is normal. If this jumping around happens to you, just know that it ALWAYS happens at some point.

It’s nice that dozens of my pages are ranking for this keyword but I find it a bit peculiar that I own about twenty spots in sequential order. This is not the first time I’ve seen this either. I have a handful of sites that have sequential rankings just like these.

I guess it’s just a quirk in the current algorithm and they don’t really care about deep pages of the results because how can one site dominating two full pages in a row be considered a good user experience?

I am certainly open to your educated thoughts on this… leave them in the comments below.

Full Disclosure

The problem with this case study is that I refuse to use only one tool to build links because it will be useless in the current SEO environment.

I have built social bookmark links and one link pyramid with web 2.0 properties BUT for the last two weeks I have only built UAW links…

That’s the best I can do to see if Unique Article Wizard is effective in increasing Google ranking.

What’s the Competition Like for This Keyword?

It is a valid point to think that maybe this article marketing method was only effective because the keyword has little or no competition. When I Google this term right now, without quotation marks, it returns 543,000 results (and my site just showed as Number 1 so I’m really excited! We’ll soon see if it’s only because the search engine is remembering my preferences or if it’s legitimate).

Below I have included the search volume for this keyword and left the “reviews” part of the term showing to show you this is a buyer keyword (one with high commercial intent).

But it Says That the Competition is Low… What’s the Deal?

I thought you might say that but you can’t always think it will be easy just because the Google External Keyword Tool says so. 

May I also show you the Market Samurai SEO Competition Data for this key phrase?

DA = Domain Age
PR = PageRank
IC = Index Count, Number of Website’s Pages Indexed
RDD = Referring Domains to the Domain
RDP = Referring Domains to the Page
BLP = Page Backlinks
BLD = Domain Backlinks

And I’ll stop there because backlinks to the page is the main factor I look at when analyzing the strength of the competition. 

As you can see the competition is incredibly fierce for this keyword phrase.

Yes, I have the exact match domain for the keyword and that obviously helped me get ranked quicker and easier. 

The point of this case study is to see if UAW works and I think you can agree that it does. 

If you are wondering why I didn’t test it on a site that does not have the keyword in the domain to really see if UAW is effective, well… frankly, I don’t waste my time on sites that don’t have the proper on-page optimization (keyword in the domain being one on-page factor). 

All else being equal, this single article submission seemed to move my site in the right direction in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). 

Who knows, it still might not work for you but I’ve done all that I can to test this tool. 

Either way, I now know that UAW works and I will continue using it until it stops working.

What Other People Say About This Article Marketing SEO Software

When doing searching online for other people that actually use the service, the opinions depend on which forum you find. It seems that for people that like SEO tools and believe in generating a ton of links using well-spun “unique” content, they love this tool and it has been used regularly for over four years now, an eternity in the Internet marketing field. For the forums that don’t seem to be into SEO full time, just dabbling in it while focusing on their main business outside of Internet marketing, they don’t seem to believe in automated tools at all and are afraid to get slapped by the search engines for doing something wrong.

I did my best to find people that actually have experience with this service and not just voicing their opinion about these types of link building tools because that won’t help us. Here are a few different excerpts from people talking about Unique Article Wizard online.

POST PANDA/PENGUIN: From Kelly Felix and Mike Long (12 year Internet Marketing Veterans) inside their members area, “UAW is absolutely, positively still working! There is no question UAW is still working like nuts right now”

“Most of the time your articles go on weak sites. But occasionally your article will get picked up by a reputable site and this a good way to increase your backlinks.” seothomas

“UAW in my opinion simply cannot be beat in terms of generating human readable articles for auto submission to directories and email lists. Yes it does take some editing,but it is very simple and WELL WORTH THE TIME YOU PUT IN!!!!!” P. Williams

Outside of the Article Directories, it seems that your article usually get published on low Page Rank websites because there are so many blogs using their free plugin.

Here is one complaint from a real UAW user.

“These are then published to blogs that normal everyday people agree to have on their own blogs. People like to hear that content is king bla bla bla, so people are more than happy to add there blogs to UAW.” “The problem with these kinds of public networks is that they do not limit the amount of articles to 1 blog which means over time, your links will become less valuable and you’ll end up in a viscous circle where you have to continue using their services, just to maintain a moderately competitive keyword.” WizBit

The problems with Wizbit’s comment is that he only mentions the blogs that publish your content and not the Article Directories and he doesn’t connect how your links lose value over time.  I completely disagree with him because if your links are still live, they continue to have value in the search engines.  Furthermore, there is not other service that can do more with decent content than UAW.  That’s why they’ve been around for so long.

The number of backlinks that you can generate is so big that it counters the low Page Rank of the websites where your links are found. If you look at the linking profiles of even the most competitive websites on page one of Google you will see that 90% of their links are found on pages without Page Rank. So, this tells you that all links count and it even looks unnatural to have only links found on sites with PR.

Advantages of Unique Article Wizard

• I’m not sure when Unique Article Wizard was first released but it has been at least 5 years which is an eternity in Internet marketing, usually a good sign
• 67 dollars per month is at the lower end of this class of link building services
• One article that you write will go out and fetch you hundreds to thousands of backlinks
• Each article that goes out is a unique version so that most of your links get counted towards your search engine rankings
• Unique article spinning method ensures that each unique version of your article is readable
• Easy to use step-by-step wizard
• 30 Day Money Back Guarantee
• Unlimited number of pen names so that, in my opinion, it doesn’t look like you are the one doing all the promoting; UAW suggests the benefit of unlimited author names is that you can be an expert to different markets at the same time
• Submits to Article Directories and to blogs in their network for a diversity of links
• Content is submitted over time so that you are safe from any search engine penalties for building too many links too quickly
• UAW provides a list of all the sites that your article was submitted to so that you see everything is working and so that you can build backlinks to those links, boosting their effectiveness
• Possibility of your article going viral for more links because readers can easily re-publish a unique version of your article on their website
• Multiple alternating author boxes so that you can alternate URLs linked to, anchor text and content around your links making things look even more natural

Disadvantages of Unique Article Wizard

• This is not a completely hands-off link building service; Unfortunately, you do have to write the article and then do some work to “spin” the article before hitting submit
• Some people don’t like tools that use any kind of spinning, thinking that it is a “black hat” tactic
• My article took 3 days to approve which is longer than I expected but after it got accepted it has been published every day without any additional work from me
• I have to put the recurring subscription fee under disadvantages because, of course, I prefer one time paid tools. On the other hand, with monthly cost this usually ensures that the creators will continue to work on and update the service.

Key Points About Unique Article Wizard as it Relates to Google Panda 3.3

The reason I continue to recommend Unique Article Wizard is because it is not a blog network and therefore was not targeted this time. SEO is always a moving target so there is no guarantee that UAW, or sites that publish their content, will not be targeted in the future.

Yes, Article Directories were penalized in previous releases of Panda but they were not de-indexed so the links found on them are still alive and valued, even though those directories are now lower in the SERPs.

Does that make sense?

Unique Article Wizard differs from private blog networks like Build My Rank because the content is published to sites that are of some value to the end-user. The content being of low quality made Google penalize the directories but they did not de-index them. The sites in their service are Article Directories and other sites owners that have installed the UAW plugin, both actually wanting/needing the content.

Even though the content distributed to the BMR network was unique, the network was targeted for being Black Hat and only existing to game the search engines. Unlike the UAW description in the previous paragraph, the sites in the BMR network (and in all blog networks) are only there to house this content and the links. The sites are all owned by the network owner and their only purpose was to build links and improve search engine rankings.

Looking at this from Google’s perspective, de-indexing or penalizing all came down to the intent of the sites publishing the content.

If the intent was to get higher rankings AND to publish content that visitors read, the penalty was lower ranking because of the low quality content.

If the intent was only to get higher rankings and no human would ever get value out of the site’s existence, they received the ultimate penalty of de-indexing.

The SEO World has been turned upside down by the recently released update, Google Panda 3.3. I will continue to dig deeper and let you know which products and services are still standing when the dust settles.

The Final Verdict

I really like Unique Article Wizard and think everyone serious about dominating the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) should have this service in their repertoire. The reason being, in SEO with every step being so tedious, it’s nice to have at least one tool that takes one piece of content that you wrote or bought and gets you hundreds of links with that content gradually over time. With other tools, once you stop writing and submitting content for distribution you stop getting backlinks. Unique Article Wizard is passive and residual in that sense so it will continue to work for you whether you decide to work or not.

I also like to see which keywords I’m already getting traffic for… from inside my Clicky traffic stats… and see if there are any keywords I can create a new blog post about.

Surprisingly, I was able to build a list of keywords that get thousands of searches every single month but don’t have too much competition.

Yes, the keywords do not have high commercial intent (people looking to buy something) but these searchers are interested in my topic in general and if I find some that do eventually convert into subscribers and sales, I can then focus on those keywords even more.

I like to use the SENuke X Niche Research module to find these key phrases (this tool has been updated and I’m not sure if the new version, SENuke XCr, still provides this feature) because it gives you the difficulty of the keyword depending on the number of other web pages that also rank for it.

There are probably other ways to do this but this is my favorite so far.

I then create a quick audio file for each keyword where I record myself talking about the keyword or answering the question that it raises.

After that I try to leverage that content into different media as quickly as possible so that I can get links with it and also to give the search engines what they want, multimedia content.

This makes sense because text, images and video all in the same post provide a better user experience that just one media would.  And after all, that is one of Google’s critical goals, to provide the best user experience possible while organizing the world’s information.

What I do is I take the audio files and I have them transcribed, or turned into text, using an inexpensive but quality service called Speechpad.  If my wife has some time to help I also ask her to do the transcribing from time to time.

I then create slides from the text in a new Powerpoint presentation.

Using Camtasia I record my screen as I go through the slides, ultimately creating a video presentation.

I can then upload the video file to Youtube and Vimeo which allow clickable links in the description field.

For an image to insert into my post I like to save the Powerpoint slides as jpegs, which will save each slide as an individual image.  I take the most relevant slide, usually the title slide, and use that one for my blog post (that now contains video, text and an image).

For royalty free images I also like to use office.microsoft.com/en-us/images.

We’re not done with the image just yet.  After adding new media in wordress, remember to change the Alt Text to a version of your main keyword, aka an LSI version, (please don’t use the same keyword every time) and change the image link (a field in WordPress that will originally contain the link to where the image is stored) to a page on your website.

This will create an image link to your website with the Alt Text as the Anchor Text.  A pretty sneaky little trick to get various types of links to your website.  And Yes, internal links also count as links, not just external, inbound links coming in from other websites.

The original audio file is not garbage.  We can then use that and upload it to podcasting sites like podbeam.

If instead you created the text first and then used Camtasia to record your video directly, you can strip the audio from the video using a free online tool that I found at http://online-convert.com.

Content Curation is the latest buzzword in SEO.

Whether it’s sharing a video, an infographic (like the one above), a quote, or an excerpt from an article or blog post, content curation has become the topic all the experts are talking about… especially after old school link building took such a pounding by the Panda and the Penquin.

I am not a registered user of GWT so I could not have received a warning and, if you’re curious, none of my sites were negatively affected by the updates.  In fact, most saw improvements in ranking.  Maybe it’s because I provide unique content to my users, not sure.

Google’s Matt Cutts made it crystal clear last night. If you get those Google Webmaster Tools notifications or messages, that means you have been hit by a manual penalty done by a person at Google after reviewing your site by hand….More at Google: Webmaster Tools Notification Means Manual Action Taken

I don’t believe a word of that and neither does this person who commented on the same post:

“I have to say I am very suspicious of this claim. There are reports that hundreds of thousands of webmasters got hit with these messages with in a month. For a company that likes to preach that it does everything algorithmically (is that a word?) That is a lot of people doing stuff manually!”

What Did Panda and Penguin Actually Do?

Ironically, the following post was found on the blog of 99 Cent Articles, the place for low quality content that you can buy for pennies, embed your links in, and distribute all over the web.  However, they do make three good points about the recent Penquin update that turned the SEO industry upside down and has people chattering about the “Death of SEO!?”

The first thing that Penguin targets is any comments that are delivered with a backlink that is inherently just spam…

The next one is probably the one least mentioned but, in my opinion, the most important because it speaks to something that the average webmaster and website owner is not even aware of.  When the search engine spider crawls through your site and reads the html code, do you think it’s a good or bad thing when it reads things like “Yoast SEO plugin” or any other thing that screams, “I am trying to optimize this site for the search engines and manipulate your results!”?

Most people, myself included at times, tell Google exactly what they are trying to do and act as if optimizing a site is something that Google wants you to do.  (It’s not, by the way.  In fact, SEO is explicitly a violation of their Terms of Service).

Anyway, here is the second point made in the 99 Cent Articles blog post:

…any sort of black hat technique utilized to boost rankings are also now targeted as bad. Some of these pieces included keyword stuffing, unauthorized SEO plugins within content management systems as well as anything that could be deemed as cheating the overall system…

The next one is sort of related to the previous in that the webmaster doesn’t even know that he is doing anything wrong and even installed a plugin to automatically link keywords to other related pages on the site.

The next thing that Panda targets is contextual links and content that you might update on your website that is stuffed with self serving links. This includes interior linking strategies that are not necessarily natural….More at Google Penguin Update and Your SEO Efforts | 99 Cent Articles

I commented on the 99 Cent Article post because I felt as though the writer forgot to mention one very important target of the recent updates… SEO Blog Networks!  

These networks of hundreds – sometimes thousands – of blogs owned by the same entity were created to game Google, plain and simple.  

We knew that links from high Page Rank sites was one of the top factors in achieving higher rankings so being able to easily get these links using blog networks was an easy and effective solution that was quickly abused until Google had to step in and make adjustments.

Now, you find bloggers everywhere stating, “SEO is Dead!!!”

I don’t agree.

It has certainly evolved into a more social based system but as long as their are factors that count toward where your site falls in the order of relevance to a specific keyword phrase, people will continue to work on giving Google what they want.  

Yesterday it was on page content factors.  Then it was links pointing to your site.  Now, maybe it’s content, links and social activity all combined together.

Unless, one day there is no way of improving your own ranking… when nothing you can do to your site will move you up the organic list of results… until that day, SEO will be alive and well. 

Google Entering the Market as a Competitor?

If Google hasn’t enraged the “SEO Industry” enough, they then announce that they will be entering as a competitor!  

Right when you thought the search engine was solely interested in providing it’s users with the best possible results, they decide to offer those “organic” results for sale to the highest bidder and completely contradict their reason for being… shocking!

When asked about SnipeR, Matt Cutts said the following:

I just signed up for an account as a publisher, where you can make money for selling links and space for content on your site, and as an advertiser, where you can buy links pointing wherever you want.

The cool thing about HP Backlinks is you buy what you want and they write the content and publish that content with links pointing back to your site for your.

Sounds pretty cool because they take the hard part out of link building – writing content.

What is Unique Article Wizard?

Unique Article Wizard is a service that provides a step-by-step wizard where you can create new content, rewrite that content and submit it to over 20,000 websites that need fresh, unique content. Each website that accepts and publishes your content must leave the resource box with the links that you created intact.

How Does Unique Article Wizard Work?

With Unique Article Wizard you can use a spinner on your own and paste the spun syntax in the article form but the real value of the service comes from when you spend the extra time and rewrite each paragraph by hand. This way each unique version of your article looks great without machine generated gibberish and looks like you actuality wrote each version, because, in reality you did personally write every word.

As you can see, this attention to detail will take you more time on the front end but in the long run your article will get picked up by many more sites and will continue to be republished out into the future indefinitely, effectively “dripping” hundreds or thousands of links back to your website over time. I have been using UAW for about a week now and I put only one article through the system to see how it went. My article was actually rejected three days after submitting because I put three links in the resource box, you’re only allowed two per article. So I resubmitted the article and it got accepted the next day.

• Here were the results of the first day of my article being submitted:
• I set a daily submission limit of 25
• My article was submitted to 24 different sites
• 17 out of the 24 were live right away
• Out of the live articles, 1 was on a PR3 domain, 2 were on a PR2 domain, 1 on a PR1, 11 on PR0 sites, and 2 were on domains with PR n/a
• So, on day one I received 17 backlinks found in “unique” content (you spend a good amount of time rewriting so it was not machine generated gibberish), better than I thought

Update #3 Personal Case UAW Case Study Added October 16, 2012

 I am excited to announce that I’ve completed a study to finally answer the question, does Unique Article Wizard work? 

In short the answer is yes. 

If you consider moving a new website up to Number 2 in Google a success, then yes, Unique Article Wizard works.

Let’s break down my test…

The article has been submitted 7 times per day for just under two weeks for a total of 85 submissions. Not all of them have been indexed but I don’t expect all links to get found by Google. After all, it’s results we’re after, not links.

As you can see we were doing the Google dance for a while there, which is normal. If this jumping around happens to you, just know that it ALWAYS happens at some point.

It’s nice that dozens of my pages are ranking for this keyword but I find it a bit peculiar that I own about twenty spots in sequential order. This is not the first time I’ve seen this either. I have a handful of sites that have sequential rankings just like these.

I guess it’s just a quirk in the current algorithm and they don’t really care about deep pages of the results because how can one site dominating two full pages in a row be considered a good user experience?

I am certainly open to your educated thoughts on this… leave them in the comments below.

Full Disclosure

The problem with this case study is that I refuse to use only one tool to build links because it will be useless in the current SEO environment.

I have built social bookmark links and one link pyramid with web 2.0 properties BUT for the last two weeks I have only built UAW links…

That’s the best I can do to see if Unique Article Wizard is effective in increasing Google ranking.

Unfortunately, you will have to take my word for it that I own this site because I cannot reveal the URL or the keyword.

What’s the Competition Like for This Keyword?

It is a valid point to think that maybe this article marketing method was only effective because the keyword has little or no competition. When I Google this term right now, without quotation marks, it returns 543,000 results (and my site just showed as Number 1 so I’m really excited! We’ll soon see if it’s only because the search engine is remembering my preferences or if it’s legitimate).

Below I have included the search volume for this keyword and left the “reviews” part of the term showing to show you this is a buyer keyword (one with high commercial intent).

But it Says That the Competition is Low… What’s the Deal?

I thought you might say that but you can’t always think it will be easy just because the Google External Keyword Tool says so. 

May I also show you the Market Samurai SEO Competition Data for this key phrase?

DA = Domain Age
PR = PageRank
IC = Index Count, Number of Website’s Pages Indexed
RDD = Referring Domains to the Domain
RDP = Referring Domains to the Page
BLP = Page Backlinks
BLD = Domain Backlinks

And I’ll stop there because backlinks to the page is the main factor I look at when analyzing the strength of the competition. 

As you can see the competition is incredibly fierce for this keyword phrase.

Yes, I have the exact match domain for the keyword and that obviously helped me get ranked quicker and easier. 

The point of this case study is to see if UAW works and I think you can agree that it does. 

If you are wondering why I didn’t test it on a site that does not have the keyword in the domain to really see if UAW is effective, well… frankly, I don’t waste my time on sites that don’t have the proper on-page optimization (keyword in the domain being one on-page factor). 

All else being equal, this single article submission seemed to move my site in the right direction in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). 

Who knows, it still might not work for you but I’ve done all that I can to test this tool. 

Either way, I now know that UAW works and I will continue using it until it stops working.

What Other People Say About This Article Marketing SEO Software

When doing searching online for other people that actually use the service, the opinions depend on which forum you find. It seems that for people that like SEO tools and believe in generating a ton of links using well-spun “unique” content, they love this tool and it has been used regularly for over four years now, an eternity in the Internet marketing field. For the forums that don’t seem to be into SEO full time, just dabbling in it while focusing on their main business outside of Internet marketing, they don’t seem to believe in automated tools at all and are afraid to get slapped by the search engines for doing something wrong.

I did my best to find people that actually have experience with this service and not just voicing their opinion about these types of link building tools because that won’t help us. Here are a few different excerpts from people talking about Unique Article Wizard online.

Outside of the Article Directories, it seems that your article usually get published on low Page Rank websites because there are so many blogs using their free plugin.

Here is one complaint from a real UAW user.

“These are then published to blogs that normal everyday people agree to have on their own blogs. People like to hear that content is king bla bla bla, so people are more than happy to add there blogs to UAW.” “The problem with these kinds of public networks is that they do not limit the amount of articles to 1 blog which means over time, your links will become less valuable and you’ll end up in a viscous circle where you have to continue using their services, just to maintain a moderately competitive keyword.” WizBit

The problems with Wizbit’s comment is that he only mentions the blogs that publish your content and not the Article Directories and he doesn’t connect how your links lose value over time.  I completely disagree with him because if your links are still live, they continue to have value in the search engines.  Furthermore, there is not other service that can do more with decent content than UAW.  That’s why they’ve been around for so long.

The number of backlinks that you can generate is so big that it counters the low Page Rank of the websites where your links are found. If you look at the linking profiles of even the most competitive websites on page one of Google you will see that 90% of their links are found on pages without Page Rank. So, this tells you that all links count and it even looks unnatural to have only links found on sites with PR.

• I’m not sure when Unique Article Wizard was first released but it has been at least 5 years which is an eternity in Internet marketing, usually a good sign

Highlights of Panda 3.3

Unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, you’ve heard about the most recent search engine update recently released at the beginning of March 2012.

• This was a manual update that targeted private blog networks with the intent of de-indexing sites in their network
• This was not an algorithm change
• Blog network sites with both unique and spun content were de-indexed
• The most logical way that Google found out about these networks was with the recent (unethical) email they sent out to hundreds of thousands of Google Webmaster Tool users. The message to users was that there has been notice of some unnatural linking going on and in order to speed up the process of getting any penalty lifted, the user was to immediately tell them how they were getting the links! (the phishing request came in the original email or maybe in a subsequent email but I’m not sure because I did not personally get notified). So they got this information by scaring people into submission and then had a nice list of blog networks to go after.
• Unique Article Wizard is not a private blog network. They distribute your content (content that is higher quality than normally-spun content) to Article Directories and to site owners who have installed their plugin in search for new fresh content.

When looking for a good alternative to Build My Rank, the only service that is just like BMR but seems to take better care of their network is Linkvana. However, you must not only look at exact comparison services because Unique Article Wizard is another service that although differs in a few regards, can be a great alternative to fill the void left by the closing of the BMR network.

Comparing Unique Article Wizard to a High Quality Private Blog Network

If you were going to choose one service to replace Build My Rank with (recently closed due to Google’s de-indexing of their sites) and were looking for the biggest bang for your link building buck, I would go with Unique Article Wizard. Even though Linkvana is the closest head-to-head comparison you will find, if you were looking to build a lot of links coming from many different sites, UAW would get my vote.

Support people from each of these networks told me that they have not been affected by the recently released Google Panda 3.3 Update.

Key Points About Unique Article Wizard as it Relates to Google Panda 3.3

The reason I continue to recommend Unique Article Wizard is because it is not a blog network and therefore was not targeted this time. SEO is always a moving target so there is no guarantee that UAW, or sites that publish their content, will not be targeted in the future.

Yes, Article Directories were penalized in previous releases of Panda but they were not de-indexed so the links found on them are still alive and valued, even though those directories are now lower in the SERPs.

Does that make sense?

Unique Article Wizard differs from private blog networks like Build My Rank because the content is published to sites that are of some value to the end-user. The content being of low quality made Google penalize the directories but they did not de-index them. The sites in their service are Article Directories and other sites owners that have installed the UAW plugin, both actually wanting/needing the content.

Even though the content distributed to the BMR network was unique, the network was targeted for being Black Hat and only existing to game the search engines. Unlike the UAW description in the previous paragraph, the sites in the BMR network (and in all blog networks) are only there to house this content and the links. Looking at this from Google’s perspective, de-indexing or penalizing all came down to the intent of the sites publishing the content.

If the intent was to get higher rankings AND to publish content that visitors read, the penalty was lower ranking because of the low quality content.

If the intent was only to get higher rankings and no human would ever get value out of the site’s existence, they received the ultimate penalty of de-indexing.

The SEO World has been turned upside down by the recently released update, Google Panda 3.3. I will continue to dig deeper and let you know which products and services are still standing when the dust settles.

As you should’ve seen coming, Google is weighing social interaction more heavily in their organic search results lately and having your content shared is a must in the new world of SEO.

The Social Exchange Wizard is in beta form and, for now, is included for free with your membership to Unique Article Wizard (one of the only networks not destroyed by Panda or Penquin).

In my opinion, this has multiplied the value of UAW but let’s see if the tool actually works.

The service is a lot like twiends.com (which may have changed a bit since being created) where you accumulate “seeds” when following people that you can then use to give away as reward when people follow you or retweet your content.

Of course Twiends was only for Twitter, UAW’s Social Exchange Wizard can be used for all four major networks and for retweeting of specificlly chosen content.

Cutts gave two examples of websites whose ranks he expected to see drop after Penguin. One displayed egregious keyword stuffing. The crime committed by the other site seemed a little more subtle, until you tried to read its text. It showed a poorly-written piece about exercise, with links about loans randomly scattered throughout the text. The text of the article clearly did not relate at all to the links.

The Penguin algorithm, though going live for all languages at the same time, was expected to have less of an impact than Panda. Cutts noted that Panda’s initial version affected about 12 percent of all queries to some degree; Penguin was supposed to affect only a little over three percent of all English queries. Penguin seemed to be another attack on webspam, this one less powerful than the recent Panda 3.3 update.  Panda 3.3 targeted SEO blog networks specifically as Penguin seemed to target a few different types of link building manipulation schemes.  

Who uses keyword stuffing anymore anyway?

Update:

Looking back, I was being funny here asking the question, “Who uses keyword stuffing anymore?” but what I failed to mention was that Google Penguin was just as powerful as the Google Panda, if not more, because it changed Search Engine Optimization forever. 

In the past, it was all about link building.  Throw links at a webpage and watch it rank.  Websites with absolutely no content relevant to the anchor text were getting ranked… and quickly.

Now if you’re not providing a decent user experience with low bounce rate, decent page load times and people staying on your site for a few minutes at least, it is a lot harder to have your site show up on that first page.

So yes, the update may have affected less results as a percentage of the total, but Penguin was powerful because it killed SEO as we once knew it!

A quick look at the links coming in (via Blekko’s SEO tools area) reveals they have 13,449 links from 1,224 domains. This is the number one mistake that people “trying” SEO make when they have no business optimizing a site for the SERPs.  If you don't know what you're doing, SEO can be dangerous as you can see above.

Here is another gloomy story of a small business owner affected by Penquin:

Before he was worried about Google and its algorithms, Harbour was a portfolio manager and investor. However, during the 2008 financial crisis he “hit rock bottom” and an illness forced him to give up his job of 10 years. Clean drinking water was pivotal in managing his condition and so he decided to become a distributor of water filters in October 2010. To date, he said he’s invested $20K in the business and turnovers peaked at $600/day consistently for four weeks before Google’s Penguin update went into effect. Frankly, I think that a good portion of the people that get penalized by new Google updates actually know that unnatural linking does in fact scream to Google that something is wrong and they should take a closer look.  How could all those people get into SEO and be so clueless.  Something they read somewhere told them that it was a good idea to get links pointing back to their website.  Did they skip over the part of making it all look natural?  I can't believe it.

The problem with SEO is that it is extremely time consuming when done correctly.  Even with the help of software, can you see how getting thousands of different, related domains to link back to any website can take work.  Even you want quick, or even lasting, results you will have to pay…. either money or time or both.  

There is no way around this fact… sorry.

If you're not up to it you can easily hire a firm to do it for you but then the problem with that is how do you know the firm or person knows what they're doing?  

How can you be sure that your site is safe in the hands of an outsider?

Even I, who knows more about this stuff than anyone should, only know of one or two people that can handle SEO for you properly… and for a reasonable price.

Doing it alone or outsourcing… either way… the best place to begin is with education.  Educate yourself through sites like this one and the one linked to above.  Spend a few hours reading and studying SEO and you will know more than 95% of the people out there.

In fact, just so that you can't say you didn't read the warning on this site… I need to mention this.  None of the products recommended on this website will perform SEO miracles.  They cannot be used alone.  If you use one tool exclusively it will leave a massive footprint for Google to follow.  Always keep that dreaded footprint in mind when dreaming about those page one rankings.

In Berlin, Google was forced to hand over data that a Street View car collected after months of non-cooperation.  After finally turning over the data it turns out that Google was logging into any wireless router that was not password protected and capturing personal information.

Snippets of e-mails, photographs, passwords, chat messages, postings on Web sites and social networks — all sorts of private Internet communications — were casually scooped up as the specially equipped cars photographed the world’s streets.

Later, the article goes onto say, “We don’t have much choice but to trust Google,” said Christian Sandvig, a researcher in communications technology and public policy at the University of Illinois. “We rely on them for everything.”

What's most amazing is that Google always gets out of trouble with any government in any country.  

The article complains that Federal regulators don't have the technological intelligence that Google has so pursuing them often leads to nothing.  

I don't buy it.

To me, it seems that the company with the biggest repertory of organized information in the world has something that governments need and want.  It's just funny how all cases ever brought up against Google, in the states and abroad, seem to simply vanish.

How does this relate to SEO besides being about Google?

Well, if you think an untouchable company like the one described above doesn't know what you are up… think again! 

You will never outsmart them.  Sooner or later, you and your clients will take a hit.  There are only a handful of people that make SEO look so natural that they've been achieving high rankings for years consistently without ever going backwards.

This should also be a warning to you to give Google what they want and to never, ever count on Google search traffic as your only source of traffic.

I thought you could only submit your feed once.  Take the feed of your entire website and submit it to the aggregators and then you’re done.  But, I just recently learned that that’s not the case.

Who Created This Plugin?

It turns out that the plugin is created by two Aussie brothers named Anthony & Tim Buchalka and these bros are no beginners to internet marketing.  If you do your research you will see that their YouTube videos get a ton of views and their websites get unbelievable traffic.  What more proof can you ask for?

What I Like About Web Traffic Genius

I have been using Web Traffic Genius for a few weeks now and am really impressed with what it does and also with the results.  Basically what it does is every time you create a new blog post, the plugin will then take that post, combine it with other posts from related feeds that you specify, create a brand new feed and submit that feed to dozens of RSS directories. 

I love it because these sites already hold a high authority position in the eyes of the search engines and this tool completely automates RSS link building and traffic generation.

Dislikes of Web Traffic Genius

It seems that it takes a very long time to publish a blog post when you have WTG working.  I know it takes a while to do its job, but it can take up to three minutes or so for a blog post to go live and for you to be able to use your dashboard again.  I also noticed that every thing in the back office of your site slows down after activating this plugin.  I have no proof that this plugin is the cause but I have used a ton of plugins and have never witnessed only the back office slowing down (not what the visitors see live, thank God) until using this particular plugin.  Frankly, I deal with this slow down because I would rather wait a minute before doing different things to my site than have to work with RSS manually.

Furthermore, you need to really go through and find which directories usually accept your feeds successfully and which do not.  Only about half of the directories work but I didn’t focus on this too much because 1. the plugin is always updated so I’m expecting better results with future versions and 2. even half of the directories getting your feed automatically every time you post something new is great.  You really don’t need that many directories to publish your feed every time you post because it would look unnatural and be complete overkill anyway.

In my opinion, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

I used to sign up under different email addresses in order to have access to the social sharing buttons that you see on top of blog posts but I just decided to pay them the 5 bucks a month so that I could use the service for multiple websites and publish content to more networks.

After Google Panda took out just about every good blog network and SEO moving towards the social side of things, I’ve realized that links from social network sites and social bookmarking sites are weighed much heavier in your search engine rankings than in the past.

I’ve seen great results from sites like Social ADR and Ping.fm so why not give the paid version of Links Alpha a try?  Who has time to keep creating new accounts just to be able to use their plugin on different websites anyway?  Plus, now every time I hit publish on a new blog post, my content will be published to a few dozen social sites automatically.
